LoRA in Simple Terms
LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) is a small add-on file that modifies how a base AI model generates images. Think of the base model (like Flux or SDXL) as a generalist painter, and a LoRA as specialized training — "now paint in this specific anime style" or "generate this particular character consistently."
LoRAs are typically 10-300MB (vs 2-7GB for full models), making them lightweight and stackable.
What Can LoRAs Do?
- Style LoRAs: Apply specific art styles (e.g., "90s anime melancholy", "Art Nouveau", "GTA 6 photography")
- Character LoRAs: Generate a consistent character across different scenes
- Concept LoRAs: Add specific concepts ("transparent clothing", "retro 60s aesthetic")
- Detail LoRAs: Enhance specific aspects ("detailed hands", "skin texture")

LoRA Strength
LoRA strength (0.0-2.0) controls how much the LoRA affects the output:
- 0.3-0.5: Subtle influence
- 0.7-0.8: Balanced (recommended starting point)
- 1.0+: Strong effect (may override other prompt elements)
